REGULAR MEETING THIS PAST TUESDAY NIGHT

(NEWTON) The Newton City Council met for a regular meeting this past Tuesday night. The Council : on a 4 to 1 vote, approved a Grant Writing Agreement with the South Central Illinois Regional Planning and Development Commission to assist the City of Newton in applying for a Grid Resilience Grant : then also on a 4 to 1 vote, will submit a Cost Commitment Letter for a Grid Resilence Grant : approved the $36,000 bid from Fence Worx for the fencing project at the pickleball courts in Peterson Park : approved the $18,500 bid from Courts and Cracks for the painting project at the pickleball courts in Peterson Park : approved the $2,527 payment to McCoy Heating and AC for a ductless mini split heating & air system, plus installation cost and labor, for the Newton City Water Plant : on a 4 to 1 vote, will allow one City employee from the Clerk’s Office to attend the IEZA & ITIA Spring Conference in Peoria next month : and then adjourned after a 44-minute executive session to discuss personnel with no action taken : due to the March 17th Primary Election, the next Newton City Council meeting will be March 18th.
