(NEWTON) The Jasper County School Board of Education had its regular monthly meeting for January last night in Newton. The Board : approved the payment of all bills as presented : accepted fuel bids from Wabash Valley Service Company : amended the 2025-2026 school calendar : approved the second reading of twenty (20) unchanged district policies : approved the second reading of thirty-eight (38) updated district policies : set the Newton Community High School graduation date for Saturday night, May 16th, 2026, at 7:00 : noted that the construction work on the Newton Elementary Building Addition project is scheduled to start March 1st : in personnel – accepted resignations from Cook Gina Corell and Groundskeeper David Murphy – hired Kelsey Deadmond as JCJH Counselor, Walt Lambird as a Bus Driver, and Joni Elliot as a District Paraprofessional – and noted the posting of seven open district positions : the Jasper County School Board’s next regular monthly meeting will be Monday night, February 16th, 2026.
