(OLNEY) The Richland County School Board of Education met for its regular monthly meeting in February last night in Olney. The Board : first held a Public Hearing to hear testimony on the proposal to sell bonds of the District in an amount not to exceed $9 million for the purpose of altering, repairing, and equipping school buildings and facilities and improving school sites : approved the January financial report with a monthly bill listing at $2,258,158 : amended the 2025-2026 school calendar to reflect the four emergency days used in January : approved the RCHS Graduation date for Sunday afternoon, May 17th, 2026, at 3:00 and the RCMS Promotion date for Tuesday night, May 19th, 2026, at 6:00 : approved Pepsi Mid America as the District Beverage provider for July 1st, 2026, through June 30th, 2029 : approved the purchase of the vacant lot at 1126 East Butler Street in Olney worth $30,000 plus closing costs : heard an update on the Athletic Complex construction work : approved a $34,800 Athletic Complex change order for backstop extensions for the baseball and softball facilities : noted the District Administration will begin work on the FY27 budget : and in personnel matters – approved the resignation of Grace Painter as RCES K-1 Special Education Teacher – agreed to hire Sierra Jade Heffron as RCES Paraprofessional and Kurtis Mehl as RCMS Head Custodian, both effective upon the completion of new hire paperwork – employed Sierra Ellison as RCMS Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher and Breanne Clark as RCES Assistant Principal – approved the transfer of Darla Johnson from RCES Nurse to RCHS Nurse – and approved the extra-duty assignment of Jacob Pampe as RCHS Head Boys Soccer Coach for the 2026-2027 school year : the next regular monthly meeting for the Richland County School Board will be March 19th, 2026.
