RICHLAND COUNTY PROPOSAL CONSIDERED

(BLOOMINGTON) Six new agricultural and vocational education policies were approved by delegates at the Illinois Farm Bureau’s annual meeting held last weekend, including language supporting select four-year degrees at community colleges in high-demand fields, such as teaching, nursing, and manufacturing. Delegates voted almost unanimously to approve new language supporting the expansion of agricultural education and literacy, however the delegates were split on adding support for bachelor’s degree options at community college. It was the Richland County Farm Bureau that submitted the proposal, citing its potential to improve workforce retention around the state, mostly in rural areas.
