RICHLAND COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD AUGUST MEETING RECAP

(OLNEY) The Richland County School Board of Education met for its regular monthly meeting in August last night in Olney. The Board : approved the monthly bill listing for July worth $1,489,347 : approved the Fiscal Year 2025 Tentative Budget as presented : approved an agreement with Wabash General Hospital to have a Certified Health Occupations Teacher at RCHS : heard from Student Resource Officer Brad Ameter, who introduced the District’s newest SRO, Drew Bunting : heard an update on the summer maintenance projects : noted the District’s student enrollment at the start of the 2024-2025 school year, at 2,227 : talked about, but took no action on the need of a fourth District School Nurse : approved District Senior Citizen Athletic Passes at no cost to those over the age of 62 : recognized Ag Teacher Mark Steber for receiving the 2024 State Golden Owl Award : recognized the 2024 RCHS Volleyball Team for receiving the 2024 American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award : and in personnel moves – accepted resignations from Shandy Holmes as RCES Teacher Assistant, Beth Goodrum as RCHS Secretary, from Abby Holdrieth as RCHS English Teacher, Parker Brinkley & Kayla Dalton as RCES Supervision Aides, Skyler Sutton as RCHS Assistant Wrestling Coach, and Chelsea Puckett as RCHS Scholastic Bowl Head Coach – agreed to employ for the 2024-2025 school year, Peyton Hightower as Part-Time RCHS Food Service Worker, Angela Oliver as Special Ed Paraprofessional, Carly Page as RCMS Special Ed Teacher Assistant, Courtney Bishop as Pre-K Teacher, Lauren Eagleson as RCHS English Teacher, Kim Fehrenbacher as RCHS Health/PE Teacher, Mariah Bennett & Raley Burt as RCES Supervision Aides, and Lori Kocher as Reading Interventionist at St. Joe School – also approved extra-curricular assignments for Logan Kauble as RCHS Girls Tennis Coach, Lauren Eagleson as RCHS Freshmen Girls Basketball Coach, Heather Colwell as RCHS Girls Golf Coach, and volunteers Alex Kauble & Audrey Jensen for RCHS Girls Tennis and for Jorge Ramos for RCHS Boys Soccer : the Board’s next meeting is September 19th.
