RICHLAND COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD DECEMBER 2024 MEETING RECAP

The Richland County School Board of Education held its regular monthly meeting in Olney last night. Key actions included:

  • Approval of the November financial report totaling $526,590.
  • Approval of the 2024 Tax Levy.
  • Approval of the Fiscal Year 2024 Audit, presented by the Kemper CPA Group.
  • Approval of the District’s Risk Management Plan.
  • Approval of the RCHS Curriculum Guide for the 2025-2026 school year.
  • Approval of the 2025 fuel bid from Wabash Valley Service Company for unleaded gas and diesel.
  • Approval of the Job Description for the Director of Alternative Education Program.
  • Recognition of the various State and National FFA Teams for their success.
  • Expulsion of a student for the remainder of this school year and all of the next, with the option to return to the District’s Rise Up Alternative School on Principal’s Probation in the second semester of the 2025-2026 school year, upon completion of 30 hours of approved counseling at the student’s expense.

In personnel matters, the Board:

  • Accepted resignations from RCMS Custodian David “Toby” Jones, RCHS Assistant Boys Soccer Coach Martin Buchner, and RCES Food Service Staff Member Korina Barnes.
  • Rehired Korina Barnes in the same position.
  • Employed Tina Harting as RCMS Custodian.
  • Approved Lauren Eagleson as RCHS Assistant Girls Track Coach for this school year.
  • Approved five volunteers for the RCHS Scholar Bowl Team and RCMS Volleyball: Jacob Pampe, Chelsea Puckett, Diane Muhs, Martin Dunn, and Madalyn Rusk.
  • Approved the intent to hire Master Sergeant Jeff Ludwig as RCHS JROTC Instructor, effective summer 2025, upon completion of required paperwork.

The next regular monthly meeting is scheduled for January 16, 2025.
