(OLNEY) The Richland County School Board of Education had a special meeting last night in Olney that was held mostly in closed session to discuss student discipline. As a result, the Board agreed to expel two students from the district : one student was expelled for the remainder of the 2023-2024 school year and for the first semester of the 2024-2025 school year – that student may return the first semester of the 2024-2025 school year if he or she completes 20 hours of approved counseling and follows all school rules while attending an alternative school : the second student was expelled for the remainder of the 2023-2024 school year and for the entire 2024-2025 school year – this student may return the second semester of the 2024-2025 school year if he/she completes 20 hours of approved counseling and follows all school rules while attending an alternative school : the School Board took no other action than to adjourn. The Board’s next regular meeting is December 21st, 2023.
