(OLNEY) While all is now considered to be safe for the students within the Richland County School District, authorities report it was at shortly before 3:00 yesterday (Thursday 8/21/25) afternoon that an unidentified individual from an outside location was able to gain access to the Richland County Middle School’s intercom system. During that time, it appeared the individual mumbled several words or statements, one of which contained the word “shooter.” Both the School District and local law enforcement immediately took this breach and statement seriously and the individual was located. The investigation revealed that the statement and word that was heard came from a television show playing in the home at the time of the breach. It’s been determined that no ongoing danger is evident for all students and staff.
