(NEWTON) During last week’s town hall style meeting for farmers, hunters, and others, co-hosted by State Representative Adam Niemerg and the Farm Bureaus in Jasper and Clark Counties, those attending met to discuss the continuing problem of too many deer in our downstate area that eat and damage crops. While updates were given by the State DNR on Illinois’ deer hunting program, there were several questions and local ideas to address the problem. In fact, one option in dealing with the deer overpopulation is the use of Deer Removal Permits, available through a farmer or landowner application process. Niemerg also noted that legislation is possible in the future. For more, go to RepNiemerg.com.
