(SPRINGFIELD) Illinois Lieutenant Governor Juliana Stratton is running a statewide essay contest to celebrate America’s 250th birthday for 6th through 12th grade students. With four prompts to choose from, the essays must be from Illinois residents and must be original work created by a single student. The word count should be 200 for grades 6 thru 8 and 500 words for grades 9 thru 12, with all entries due in by May 31st to be judged by state employees.
