THURSDAY WEATHER DISCUSSION (01/09/2024)

(OLNEY/NEWTON) After a very cold start to this Thursday, a light southerly wind will start a slight warming trend today through Sunday, however our wind chill values today will be in the single digits despite some sunshine this afternoon. An approaching storm system will give us some more snow by daybreak tomorrow morning and continuing through the day on Friday. An additional 2 to 4 inches of new snow is possible before it ends tomorrow night. Then we’re dry for the weekend and more cold air returning for the first of next week. Always monitor a NOAA Weather Alert Radio for weather forecast details and more.

(NEWTON/OLNEY) The National Weather Service has now posted a Winter Weather Advisory in effect from midnight tonight through midnight tomorrow night. This advisory is for a large area from Richland, Lawrence, Clay, and Jasper Counties all the way north to McLean and Scott Counties, basically everywhere from Olney up to Bloomington and all points in between. Total snow accumulations expected between 1 and 4 inches from early tomorrow morning through late tomorrow night.
