(OLNEY) in Girls High School Basketball from the weekend –
there are 12 teams at the Benton Christmas Classic Tournament
on Friday, Olney lost its first round bracket game to Carbondale, 48-63
the Lady Tigers then won a consolation bracket game by beating Herrin, 56-23
Olney then lost to Vienna, 44-53 in a consolation semi-final game Saturday
the Lady Tigers will play their last game of the tournament this morning
it will be a 10:30 matchup against Salem in the tournament’s 11th place game

(NEWTON) in Girls High School Basketball from the weekend –
there were 12 teams at the Merry Mule Tournament at Fairfield
Newton won their pool play games on Friday
beating Wayne City/Cisne, 64-22 and Mt. Vernon, Indiana, 56-19
the Lady Eagles then won their semi-final game over Edwards County, 57-55
Newton then lost a tough championship game to Fairfield, 44-48
at 10-6 on the year, the Lady Eagles are scheduled to play Neoga, January 5th

there are 16 teams at the Duster Thomas Hoops Classic at Pinckneyville
Olney lost it’s first of four games Saturday, falling to Steeleville, 42-52
the Tigers are in consolation action this morning at 10:30 against Meridian
Olney will then return for a 4:00 or 5:30 game later on Monday, depending on a loss or win
the Tiger’s final game of the tournament will be on Tuesday

Newton begins action this evening at 6:00 against Oregon at Teutopolis High School
the Eagles will return with two more games on Tuesday and their final game Wednesday
