‘WHAT’S HAPPENING’ THIS WEEKEND

(NOBLE) The Freedom Baptist Church, north of Noble, is having Vacation Bible School next week, starting this Sunday, July 13th, and continuing through next Thursday, July 17th, each night from 6:30 to 8:30. Based on Psalm 34:3, the “Magnified” VBS program will focus on discovering the bigness of God in the smallest of things and is for children ages 4 years old thru those who have completed 6th grade. While pre-registration is not required, those who’d like to attend can do so by searching Freedom Baptist Church, Noble, Illinois on Facebook. (OLNEY) The Olney VFW will have its next Queen of Hearts drawing coming up this Sunday afternoon at 4:00, with tickets on sale up until 3:55, and all open to the public. This week’s jackpot will be over $10,500 if the winner is present. All are encouraged to stop by Sunday.

(FAIRFIELD) The Fairfield Coin Club will meet this Sunday at Frontier Community College. With the doors opening at 9:00 in the morning, the meeting and auction begins at 1:30 with coin dealers present and a raffle drawing with tickets on sale at the door. All are invited.

(STE. MARIE) It’s the Annual Cork & Pork Festival coming up this Saturday night in Ste. Marie, running from 4:30 to 11:00. With food served from 5:00 to 9:00, there will be plenty of pork, wine, beer, and music, with all the proceeds to help local non-profit organizations & groups. Must be 21 to attend with ID’s required. All are invited to Ste. Marie this Saturday.

(OLNEY) The Olney VFW Post #4226 is celebrating its 80th anniversary and it will host a special “Open House” tomorrow from 11:00 to 4:00. Everyone is invited to stop by and help recognize the 80 years of service the local VFW Post has offered to Veterans, their families, and the Olney community. Along with an anniversary cake, there will be various activities for all ages, plus all World War II Veterans are invited for a special recognition as well.

(FAIRFIELD) The Wabash Valley Chapter of the American Truck Historical Society (ATHS) will host an Antique Truck Show this coming Saturday from 9:00 to 2:00 at the Wayne County Fairgrounds in Fairfield. All types of trucks, 25 years and older, are welcome.

(OLNEY) The Olney Fire Association’s First Annual “Car Show” is this coming Saturday in the Olney City Park, with registration from 8:00 to 11:00 in the morning and judging then to follow. All held in memory of Clarence “Smitty” Smith, will various awards presented. The Olney Firefighters are selling raffle tickets at $20 each with only 500 available and lots of prizes to win, including ten (10) guns. The drawing will be held at the show.

(NEWTON) The next Queen of Hearts drawing at the American Legion Post 20 in Newton this Friday night at 6:30, with the jackpot at $48,065. The Queen’s menu includes a choice of smoked ribeye sandwich with fries for $13 or a chicken & bacon sandwich with fries for $12, and serving from 5:00 to 7:00, or until sold out. (OLNEY) An “Art Sale” sponsored by the Olney Arts Council is this coming Friday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at the Olney Parkside Event Center featuring the Dr. Jean Miller Art Collection. Over 200 pieces by local and regional artists involved, including paintings, 3D work, photography, and China sets. (OLNEY) It’s been announced that there is no Richland County Farmer’s Market today, on this Friday. It’s expected to return to the Olney City Park from 10:00 to 2:00 next Tuesday.
