(BLOOMINGTON) In yesterday’s Illinois Hogs & Pigs Report from the USDA : the Illinois inventory of all hogs and pigs on June 1st, 2024, was 5.70 million head, up 3% from March 1st and up 5% from a year ago : the state’s breeding inventory, at 660,000 head, was down 10,000 from the previous quarter and down 10,000 from last year : Illinois’ market hog inventory, at 5.04 million head, was up 3% from March 1st and up 5% from a year ago : the March to May 2024 pig crop, at 3.35 million head, was up 7% from the same period in 2023.
