A BUSY NEXT FEW DAYS AND NIGHTS

(OLNEY) The next Queen of Hearts drawing at the Olney VFW Post is this coming Sunday afternoon at 4:00, with tickets on sale all this week and always open to the public. The jackpot for this coming weekend will be at least $15,500 or better, but the winner must be present. All ticket sales support the VFW Post Home, along with local Veterans and their families.

(OLNEY) Also this Sunday afternoon, the Olney VFW will host its Annual Vietnam War Veterans Ceremony, starting at 1:00, with all local Vietnam War Veterans to receive a special Lapel Pin as a lasting momento of our Nation’s eternal thanks. With this Sunday being recognized as National Vietnam War Veterans Day, the public is urged to come out and attend.

(STE. MARIE) The Ste. Marie American Legion Post 932 will host its annual B.B. Gun Meat Shoot this coming Sunday in Ste. Marie. With sign up starting at 1:00 that afternoon, the shooting will run from 2:00 to 5:00 with multiple rounds available with different meat bundles to win by closest BB’s to the center of the bullseye target. The cost is $5.00 per round, with only one shot per round. Those taking part must by 12 years old or older, must use the BB guns provided, and the judges’ decisions are final. All the proceeds raised will support the Ste. Marie American Legion. All the meat provided by Hartrich Meats in Ste. Marie.

(OLNEY) The local Olney/Richland County “Traveling Heroes Trophy” will be up for grabs this coming Saturday night at Richland County High School in Olney as the Braggin’ Rights Basketball Guns “N Hoses competition will be held. With the doors opening at 5:30, the games start at 6:00, featuring the Olney Rebels Special Olympics athletes and local law enforcement and fire department personnel. The $5.00 admission tickets, plus $5.00 50/50 raffle tickets are available for purchase this week at the Sheriff’s Office, Fire Department, Doll’s Incorporated, other local businesses, and from Olney Rebel players. All are encouraged to come out and have fun with those taking part with proceeds to benefit the Rebels and their competition expenses.

(NEWTON) The Newton American Legion Post 20 will host an Easter Party and Egg Hunt this Saturday at 12:00 noon in Peterson Park. With the Egg Hunt for age groups zero to 3, 4 to 6, and 7 to 10, a Scavenger Hunt will be held for those ages 11 to 16. It’s fun for the whole family with games, food, an Easter Bunny visit, & more. (CLAREMONT) A fundraising pork burger and brats cookout is this Saturday at the Big R Store in Olney, with serving from 9:30 to 2:00, or until sold out, with all the money raised to support Claremont Community Center Scholarship Fund. Along with pork burgers and bratswurst, there will also be plenty of homemade baked goods for sale as well. All are urged to stop.

(OLNEY) The Olney Knights of Columbus has another fish fry this Friday night at the Olney City Park Community Building with serving from 5:00 to 7:00, or until sold out. The cost is $14.00 per dinner, plus refills available. The menu includes fried fish, hash brown patty, baked beans, corn, green beans, salad, and a drink, plus desserts for a donation. Either dine in or carry out. That’s this Friday night with proceeds to benefit the Olney Valor Quilters.

(NEWTON) The Newton American Legion Post 20 will host a Friday night “Fish Fry” this weekend with serving from 5:00 to 7:00, or until sold out. The Queen’s Menu includes catfish nuggets, fried shrimp, frog legs, or a sampler platter with two sides and prices ranging from $12 to $15 per person. Either dine in or carry out at 108 East Jourdan Street in Newton. The Queen of Hearts drawing will be at 6:30 with the jackpot this week at $92,660. Call 783-2622 for more.

(CLAREMONT) The Claremont-Bonpas Fire Protection District will continue its Friday fish fries at the Claremont Fire Station this weekend, with all proceeds to go towards rescue equipment for the firemen. With a menu of fish, popcorn chicken, pork loin, ham, pulled pork, baked potatoes, other sides, and drinks, serving on Friday will include lunch from 11:00 to 1:30, all-you-can-eat, at $12.50 per person, and the Friday evening dinner from 4:00 to 7:00, priced at $18.50 for adults, $10.00 for children 6 to 13, and free for children age 5 and younger. That’s this coming Friday and the following three Fridays at the Fire Station in Claremont.

(OLNEY) The Community Support Systems’ ABC Children’s Program in Olney is sponsoring a Community Resource Fair this week, on Thursday, in the Olney City Park Community Building, from 1:00 to 4:00 in the afternoon. The free event is open to the public, encouraging everyone to drop by and visit the informational booths set up by local and area agencies. There will be give-a-ways, door prizes, and refreshments.   • THURSDAY (3/26/26) : it’s the next Lego Club meeting at 4:00 as area youth are invited to the OPL to build Legos and complete the monthly challenge – all Legos are provided
  • WEDNESDAY (3/25/26) : it’s traveling office hours from 1:00 to 3:00 for a staff member of State Representative Blaine Wilhour to visit with local folks to discuss issues or concerns
