FRIDAY RESULTS (5/1/26)

(NEWTON) in Boys High School Track from last Friday –

there were 18 total teams that competed at the varsity Newton Invitational Meet

Effingham won the event by beating out second place Charleston, 99 to 95

the host Eagles finished third with 76 points, followed by Shelbyville at 55

Mattoon was fifth (45), St. Anthony (44), Olney & Teutopolis tied for seventh (39)

then Robinson (36.5), Vandalia (36), Altamont (28), CHBC (26), and OPH (23)

Neoga (18.5), Red Hill (16), Paris (10), St. John’s Lutheran (10), Lawrenceville (3)

the split Olney squad had five top-five finishes out of the 18 events

Tristin Butler won the 1600 meter run

Landan Livingston, Tristin Butler, Austin Kuenstler, & Quaid Berger won the 3200 meter relay

Quaid Burger was 3rd in the 800 meter run

Xavier Owusu-gyan was 3rd in the 100 meter dash

Landon Livingston was 5th in the 1600 meter run

Newton had eight top-four finishes out of the 18 events

Matthew Haskett, Tanner Whitaker, Parker Harris, & Henry Will won the 1600 meter relay

Eli Wolf was 2nd in the long jump

Brock Anderson, Matthew Haskett, Brayan Ramos, & Eli Wolf / 2nd / 800 meter relay

Hayden Borgic was 3rd in the 300 meter hurdles

Evan Holder was 3rd in the pole vault

Tanner Whitaker, Parker Harris, Johnnie Brant, & Hayden Borgic / 3rd / 3200 meter relay

Matthew Haskett, Henry Will, Eli Wolf, & Brock Anderson / 3rd / 400 meter relay

Brock Anderson was 4th in the 100 meter dash

there were seven teams that competed in the Fresh/Soph Newton Invitational

Olney beat out second place Newton to win it, 20 to 14

Mattoon was third at 13, followed by Effingham (9) and Charleston (5)

Brownstown/St. Elmo and Oblong/Palestine/Hutsonville tied for sixth place (4)

there were only two events and Olney won them both

Gentry Hough, Leo Hallam, Ian Kocher, & Xavior-Owusu-gyan in the 400 meter relay

Oliver Fehrenbacher, Tristin Butler, Landon Livingston, & Austin Kuenstler / 1600 meter relay

Newton’s Fresh/Soph finishers were

Brayan Ramos, Dylan Earnest, Kaleb Iffert, & Beau Bennett were 2nd in the 400 meter relay

Beau Bennett, Dylan Earnest, Holden Barthelemy, & Daniel Falcioni / 3rd / 1600 meter relay
