(SPRINGFIELD) Governor J.B. Pritzker has signed an executive order to establish a new Aging Commission to help guide and implement the state’s new ten-year blueprint to address the needs of older adults in Illinois, especially those with disabilities and their caregivers. Members will soon be chosen for the EngAging Illinois Multisector Plan for Aging Commission.
(CENTRALIA) A company in nearby Marion County has announced it will invest more than $15 million to expand operations with help from Illinois tax credits supported by the state’s Reimaging Energy & Vehicles Act. The planned expansion in Centralia will create at least 60 new full-time jobs. Great news for the downstate area according to regional lawmakers.
(SPRINGFIELD) State taxpayers will be providing $2.6 million to expand the truck driver training program offered at Lincoln Land Community College. The investment will support the college’s program at its campus location in Litchfield and could double the current enrollment.
(SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois Senate Education Committee has advanced legislation that would allow high school students to take Career Technical Education classes as an alternative to the two-year foreign language requirement, starting in 2028. While the full Senate is expected to consider Senate Bill 3070 by the end of the week, the State House could vote on it next week.
