RCHS Theater Department presents “The Curious Savage” August 7 & 8
The RCPAC stage is set for an unforgettable summer theater experience as the Richland County Theater Department and its summer mentorship program as they proudly present The Curious Savage at the Richland County Performing Arts Center in Olney.
Audiences are invited to join the cast and crew for this charming comedy on August 7 and 8 of 2026, for an evening filled with laughter, compassion, and meaningful moments that celebrate the importance of kindness and community.
The Curious Savage follows the story of Ethel P. Savage, a generous and unconventional widow whose dream of using her inheritance to help others causes conflict with her family. Concerned about her choices, her stepchildren commit her to a sanitarium, hoping to take control of her fortune. Inside the sanitarium, Ethel discovers a new kind of family among a group of unique and colorful residents. Through their friendship and shared experiences, she learns that happiness cannot be measured by money, social standing, or material success. Instead, the play highlights the lasting value of compassion, creativity, acceptance, and remaining true to who you are.
This production showcases the talents of local performers while giving participants in the summer mentorship program an opportunity to learn, grow, and share their passion for theater. The program provides a valuable experience for young artists and helps strengthen the connection between theater, education, and the Richland County community.
