ILLINOIS STATE NEWS BRIEF (04/03/2025)

(SPRINGFIELD) Governor J.B. Pritzker and a 70-person delegation of state officials and private sector citizens concluded their trade mission to Mexico City yesterday. Officials say the trip was an effort to strengthen the state’s long standing partnership with Mexico, paving the way for future investment and shared success. Trade between Illinois & Mexico exceeded $32 billion in 2024, making Mexico Illinois’ second largest export market.

(SPRINGFIELD) The Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation and Illinois Children’s Healthcare Foundation are now accepting 2025 applications for the annual “H2O On the Go” grant program. Launched in 2020, the program replaces existing water fountains with new water bottle-filling stations at elementary, middle, and high schools throughout Illinois. Over the part5 years, the program has provided 337 Illinois schools with water bottle-filling stations.

(SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois Commerce Commission has approved its annual five-year Rail Crossing Safety Improvement Plan to implement life-saving safety upgrades at highway-rail crossings across the state. Over $400 million from the Grade Crossing Protection Fund and Rebuild Illinois will assist communities to pay for improvements at over 900 crossing sites. Last year in 2024, preliminary data from the Federal Railroad Administration shows there were 80 collisions at public rail crossing in Illinois, down from 89 collisions in 2023.
