ISP TROOP 9 DISSTRACTED DRIVING PATROL RESULTS

(EFFINGHAM) The Illinois State Police Troop 9 has released results of recent Distracted Driving Enforcement Program patrols in both Richland & Effingham Counties last month. The program provided extra partrol coverage for State Troopers to focus on saving lives and reducing serious crashes by enforcing distracted driving laws. Here’s the statistics :

• 43 total citations
• 28 total distracted driving citations
• 21 hand-held phone/device citations
• 13 total written warnings
• 7 texting while driving citations

The extra enforcement patrols were paid for by federal traffic safety funds through IDOT.
