NEWEST USDA ILLINOIS CROP PROGRESS REPORT

(SPRINGFIELD) In this week’s USDA Crop Progress Report, statewide farmers in Illinois have less than one-quarter of corn and soybean crops left to plant, other than possible replanting work. Tuesday’s report shows 86% of corn and 84% of soybeans have been planted around the state, with 68% and 61% emerged, respectively. Although due to recent heavy rains, many downstate area farmers will use the next several days of dry weather to replant, in many cases, a large portion of their acreage. Also, the USDA estimated that 88% of the state wheat crop was headed with 70% of the crop rated in good to excellent shape and some fields starting to turn colors.
