(SPRINGFIELD) The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in Illinois continues to rise, as of yesterday, it’s now up to an average of $4.45, more than a dollar higher than it was at this time a year ago. The Triple A Motor Club reports the average Illinois price on yesterday’s date in 2025 was $3.42. It’s now the highest price for gasoline in Illinois in nearly four years. The statewide average price just a month ago was at $4.22 per gallon.

(CHICAGO) At least two Chicago Aldermen are calling for changes to Illinois’ SAFE-T Act after a man with seven felony convictions escaped electronic monitoring and allegedly killed a Chicago Police Officer last weekend. The Aldermen say the law must be expanded for detainable offenses, strengthened to revoke pretrial release, allow for consideration of criminal history for detainment, close the 48-hour window for electronic monitoring, and not allow repeat offenders to be monitored. Statewide authorities have called for changes since the law was enacted.

(SPRINGFIELD) While passed by the State House last week, the proposed stadium project for the Chicago Bears and other megaprojects are now before the State Senate, however Governor J.B. Pritzker is suggesting some changes, stating the Bears do not want a 9% amusement tax added to their ticket prices. Downstate lawmakers, including State Representative Blaine Wilhour says this will simply add more to the taxes paid by statewide residents & families.

(SPRINGFIELD) State officials say a new sports complex in Springfield will bring in an estimated $25 million of annual economic activity. The newly planned Scheels Sports Park represents more than $60 million in public and private investments. Local and state officials, as well as business leaders from throughout Springfield were at the facility’s opening yesterday.
