(SPRINGFIELD) The unemployment rate in Illinois has risen to 5.2%, according to yesterday’s report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Illinois Department of Employment Security. The state’s March joblessness rate is up from 5.0% reported for February. The Champaign-Urbana area, however, saw its 14th consecutive month of year-over-year job growth.

(SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois State Treasurer’s Office has announced transition plans for the state’s retirement savings program for private-sector workers. The Illinois Secure Choice will become My Illinois Savings next month and will feature technology improvements and lower fees. The Agency says the transition will occur June 11th through 14th coming up next month.

(SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois State Fair has scheduled a free concert with the southern rock band .38 Special on Monday night, August 17th, with the gates to open at 7:00. While no tickets are required, those attending must go through security screening before entering the Grandstand. The Illinois State Fair is August 13th thru 23rd.
