(OLNEY) The Olney City Council met last night in regular session. The Council : approved the payment of all bills as presented : on a 4 to 1 vote, approved an ordinance to amend a section of the City of Olney Municipal Code to prohibit, that is not allow, cannabis dispensaries to be located within the Olney City Limits : approved the $6,527,853 low bid from Ambraw Asphalt for the downtown Main Street Resurfacing project running from the Route 130 intersection all the way eastward through Olney to the Route 50 intersection : agreed to support the Illinois America 250 Commemoration : approved a Law Enforcement Mutual Aid Agreement to start a Drug Task Force involving the Cities of Olney and Robinson and the Sheriff’s Departments in Richland, Jasper, Lawrence, and Crawford Counties : approved a Class S Liquor License for Hovey’s LLC for various downtown community events : approved a Cooperative Agreement with the Department of Defense whereas the City of Olney could purchase federal surplus items at reduced prices : approved the low bid from Doll’s Inc. For pea gravel : approved the low bids from Charles Carter & Sons Trucking for sand, crushed stone, and riprap : approved the low bids from Schrey Systems for concrete use by the city : approved one raffle license request : approved a resolution of support for a SWAN grant application : noted that the East Street Bridge project is continuing and that the Elliott Street Bridge project will start later this week, both lasting for another four weeks or so : and held a closed session to discuss real property, negotiations, and personnel, but no action was taken : the Olney City Council’s next regular meeting will be April 27th, 2026.
