(NEWTON) The Jasper County Board met for its regular monthly meeting last Thursday night in Newton. The Board : approved the August bill listing worth $397,603 : agreed to close all Non-Emergency Jasper County Offices on Wednesday, October 15th, from 8:00 to 1:00, for an all-County Employee Training to be held in Newton : heard various updates – a busy Ambulance Department report – the Highway Department noted all summer oil and chipping is complete, plus the county’s pavement preservation work on the county’s 21.78 miles of roadway – the Health Department reported serving 1,102 clients in August & noted the east end building main phase is mostly complete – noted technology work to update computers is continuing : in other business, approved the reappointment of Donald Clark as Commissioner of the Mint Creek Drainage District and of James Nix as Commissioner of the Sainte Marie Drainage & Levee District : heard an update on the Jasper County Museum which is requesting $5,000 annual donations to maintain a move to a new, stand-alone site with plans for a Grand Opening in October to celebrate it’s 60th anniversary : adjourned after a short closed session to discuss litigation : the Jasper County Board’s next regular monthly meeting is October 16th, 2025.
