REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING LAST NIGHT

(OLNEY) The Richland County School Board of Education met for its regular monthly meeting in April last night in Olney. The Board : approved the monthly financial report with a bill listing for March at $2,398,374 : heard a construction update on the Athletic Complex : heard an update on District curriculum purchases and renewals for 2026-2027 : approved the resolution for the issuance and sale of not to exceed $9 million of alternate revenue bonds to alter, repair, and/or equip school buildings and facilities within the District and not to exceed $12 million of bonds for the purpose of refunding certain outstanding bonds : approved Summer School fees at $50 per course with a $25 per course refund if successfully completed : noted that the High School graduation is Sunday afternoon, May 17th, at 3:00, and the Middle School promotion is Tuesday night, May 19th at 6:00, both at Richland County High School : noted the last day of student attendance is Wednesday, May 20th, and that the District’s All-Staff breakfast is Thursday, May 21st, followed by the District’s Service Awards Program for staff : and in personnel – accepted the retirement resignation of Bus Driver Larry Brian – accepted resignations from Jennifer Weidner as Learning Center Director and from Suzanna Ridgely as RCHS Social Worker, both effective at the end of the 2025-2026 school year – accepted resignations from Learning Center Paraprofessional Makenzie Provines, RCES Mental Health Counselor Madelyn Rusk, RCMS STEM Teacher Sarah McKinney, and Part-Time RCES Math Interventionist Joyce Anderson : approved the hiring of Makenna King as RCMS Special Education Teacher, Sawyer DeShon as RCHS Spanish Teacher, Sydney Hall as RCHS School Counselor, Alex Beckham as RCHS PE Teacher & new Olney Tiger Head Basketball Coach, Brock Holloway as RCHS Social Sciense / History Teacher, and Jazzmyn Johnson & Isabel Carter at RCES Teachers : agreed to transfer Samantha McGriff from RCES Teacher Assistant to Fourth Grade Teacher, to transfer Maci Deimel from RCES First Grade Teacher to RCES School Counselor, and to rehire Madelyn Rusk as RCES School Counselor : approved the RCES Summer Tutors and 2026 Summer Driver’s Ed Instructors as listed : and agreed to rehire fall and winter coaches and volunteers for the 2026-2027 school year : the next monthly meeting for the Richland County School Board is May 21st, 2026.
