(NEWTON/OLNEY) All are encouraged to help out our local Girl Scouts as the National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend runs tomorrow through Sunday, a time when Girl Scout Troops from across downstate Illinois promote their cookie sales. As always, 100 percent of the proceeds earned in the Girl Scout Cookie Program stay local with councils and troops for girls to use for service projects, troop travel, summer camps, and much more. The Girls Scouts of Southern Illinois serves over 6,300 girls and engages nearly 3,600 adults in the 40 southernmost counties in Illinois. Folks can also text COOKIES to 59618 for details. The Girl Scout’s cookie sales end March 15th.
