(SPRINGFIELD) Landowners with acres eligible to enroll as additional base acres for USDA commodity programs should receive notifications fairly quickly, according to USDA officials. One of the provisions secured in last July’s reconciliation bill was an additional 30-million base acre update to be allocated to farms based on their cropping history from 2019 through 2023 and a requirement that all owners be notified of their eligibility to receive additional base acres. Producers can contact their local county FSA offices or go online to the usda.gov website.
