(SPRINGFIELD) The USDA released its first condition ratings for 2026 corn and soybean crops in its latest crop progress and conditions report yesterday. While the Illinois corn crop was rated 65% good to excellent, 30% fair, and 5% poor to very poor, statewide soybeans were rated 64% good to excellent, 31% fair, and 5% poor to very poor, both of which are similar to the current national average ratings. Statewide, planting hit 91% complete for corn and 89% complete for soybeans as of Sunday, not taking into account the intended replanting work. Winter wheat is 92% headed with harvest just weeks away. Wheat is rated at 70% good to excellent in Illinois.
