(SPRINGFIELD) In yesterday’s USDA Illinois Crop Progress Report, there were 6.5 days suitable for fieldwork on average in Illinois last week. The statewide average temperature was 80.6 degrees last week, 7.2 degrees above normal. Illinois’ precipitation averaged 0.74 inches last week, 0.21 inches below normal. As of Sunday, the statewide corn silking is at 1% with the corn condition rated 10% poor to very poor, 28% fair, 50% good, and 12% excellent. Soybeans planted was at 96% with soybeans blooming at 4% and the soybeans rated 10% poor to very poor, 31% fair, 51% good, and 8% excellent. Winter wheat harvested for grain reached 72%, compared to the 5-year average of 34%. Let’s remember “safety first” out there.
